G12 - Optional Upgrades

LiFePO4 Batteries

Power Related
Choose a 2000W inverter to run everyday 110V appliances straight from your batteries, or add a Victron MPPT solar controller to maximize charging from your rooftop solar, while utilizing your portable solar, shore power, or DC-DC charging sources.

Portable Solar Panel Suitcase
Portable solar panels let you capture maximum sunlight by placing them wherever conditions are best, even when your trailer is parked in the shade. Plug in up to 600W of portable solar.

Rooftop Mounted Solar Panels
Rooftop‑mounted solar panels keep your batteries charging continuously — at camp or while driving. We can add up to 1,000W of solar on the roof of the G12, giving a charging capability of up to 65 amps.
Other optional components
All weather camping & comfort

Insulated Canvas
The insulated canvas option upgrades your poptop roof canvas to a version with R4 insulation for better comfort in any season. It helps keep the interior warmer in cold weather and cooler in the heat, dampens outside noise, and creates a near blackout environment for restful sleep wherever you camp.
Heated Fresh Water Tank
The heated freshwater tank option protects your water system in freezing conditions. This option adds a 12V tank heater, a heated pickup‑line sleeve, and full insulation — all controlled from inside the trailer — to prevent your freshwater system from freezing.

Truma Saphir Air Conditioner
Truma’s compact under‑bench A/C system cools efficiently and quietly, keeping the cabin comfortable on hot summer days—all without taking up roof space or adding additional roof height and weight.

Entry Door Window Cover
A quilted blackout cover for the entry‑door window. It snaps into place from the inside, blocking light and adding privacy while helping reduce heat transfer.

Wrappon Electric Toilet
A waterless electric toilet that automatically wraps and seals waste. It wraps and heat‑seals each use into an odor‑free, disposable bag — no water, no chemicals, no cleanup.
Add-ons

270-degree Awning Wall Set
Transform your 270‑degree awning into a fully enclosed outdoor room. The wall kit creates a private, weather‑protected space that wraps around the kitchen and rear of the trailer, and includes multiple windows and an entry door to expand your sheltered living area.
ARK XO Corner Stabilizers
Upgraded ARK XO corner stabilizers for added strength and stability. These heavy‑duty stabilizers provide superior support at all four corners and are strong enough to assist during tire changes.

Folding Bunk Bed (Sleeps 5)
Our custom aluminum bunk bed is completely removable, but also tilts up and out of the way for daytime use of the trailer. With a ladder and divider to keep bunk movement safe, this bunk is capable of supporting up to 250 lbs. Your G12 can now sleep up to 5 people!

Starlink 12v Modules/Kits
The Starlink Gen2/Gen3 12V Module Kit or the Starlink Mini Module/Kit gives you full Starlink performance with significantly lower power consumption. It includes a rooftop dish mount, and a side‑wall pass-through port. The Gen2/Gen3 also provides a router and efficient 12V power converters, allowing your dish to run directly from your 12V system instead of a power‑hungry 110V inverter. *Starlink system not included

Entry Step Stool
A folding aluminum step stool with adjustable legs for easier entry.
Lightweight yet incredibly strong, it supports up to 1,000 lbs and folds flat for simple storage.
Protection

Front Wall Wrap Protection Film
A high‑durability paint protection film applied to the wrap the of trailer’s front wall. This clear barrier protects the wrap from rock chips, abrasion, and UV fading.

Winter Storage Cover
A custom‑fit, waterproof, breathable storage cover with a zip‑open entry door. Designed specifically for your trailer, it protects the exterior from weather, UV, and dust while still allowing access inside during storage.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the base model?
Above in this page, you will see a Specifications section. All of the specifications and components that come standard with the trailers are listed there. You can also view the full specifications of our trailers by downloading our Specs & Pricing PDF noted above. Alternatively, you can use our Build Your Trailer 3D configurator.
All listed components and specifications reflect what comes standard with our overlanding trailers. Only items listed under “optional upgrades” come at an additional cost.
Is there any wood in the construction of the trailer?
No. There is not a single piece of wood used in the Arkto Campers overland trailer ‘s construction.
Our trailers are built with fully composite structural sandwich panels, eliminating the risk of rot or moisture damage common in traditional travel trailers. This no-wood construction method also covers the interior of the trailer. All of the cabinets in the trailer are either aluminum or composite.
Will the trailer fit in an 8-foot-tall garage?
Yes – if the approach angle from your driveway into your garage is relatively level, then the trailer should fit.
The G12 has an exterior height of approximately 7′ 10″, which may fit in standard 8-foot-tall garages, but clearance can be tight if the angle of approach is too high. Always measure your garage opening and approach angle to ensure proper fit.
What are the benefits of the insulated canvas upgrade?
Our insulated canvas option offers four key benefits: improved insulation in both cold and warm weather, some sound dampening, and a blackout effect for better sleep.
Together, these features make the trailer more comfortable in a wide range of camping conditions.
Is the G12 a Four-Season Trailer?
We try to be as transparent as possible about this topic. Since the kitchen slides out and exposes the plumbing to the elements, we tell customers it is a 3.5-season trailer.
However, if the kitchen is managed properly (put away), then yes, the G12 can definitely be used in colder climates.
Since we manufacture in Northern Canada, we are accustomed to cold weather camping, and regularly camp with the G12 in -25 Celsius (-13 F).
The G12’s hard wall insulation is rated at R7, the floor at R9, and the insulated canvas at R4. With the Truma Combi as your furnace, the interior stays comfortably warm during those colder days.
What kind of tow vehicle do I need to tow the Arkto Campers G12?
For our Arkto Campers overland trailers, minimum recommended tow requirements vary by model:
– G12: We recommend a tow vehicle with a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs or greater
– C10: We recommend a tow vehicle with a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs or greater
Both models are well-balanced with proper weight distribution, making them easier to tow than many traditional travel trailers and off-road trailers.
How many people can the G12 sleep?
As standard, the G12 is capable of comfortably sleeping 2 adults and 2 children. Each trailer comes with a residential queen-sized mattress (60” x 80”) to sleep the two adults. The long bench on the interior is 30” wide and 6’4” long, making it comfortable for a third adult if needed. However, that bench can be connected with the single seat, to make an ‘L-shaped’ sleeping arrangement, for two children to sleep head-to-head or foot-to-foot.
The G12 has the option to add a bunk bed above the bench. This optional upgrade allows for a fifth person to sleep in the trailer. The bunk bed is 5’7” long and 25” wide, and can withstand up to 250 lbs.
With these sleeping arrangements combined, the interior can accommodate up to 2 adults and 3 children.
How long can I stay off-grid in a G12?
The topic of camping ‘off-grid’ is typically broken down into two different topics. Power or battery capacity, and water capacity.
Power:
The G12 can house up to 960 amp hours of lithium batteries in its battery box. This means, under normal camping use (furnace on, fridge/freezer, lights, charging devices, etc.), the G12 can survive for roughly 14 days, without any power input (solar/shore/DCDC).
The G12 batteries can be charged from three sources. Shore power, DC-DC (Anderson plug from tow vehicle), or from solar panels (roof/portable). The G12’s roof can be fitted with up to 1,000 watts of solar. Between these three charging methods, the G12 is capable of maintaining off-grid status almost indefinitely.
Water:
The G12 comes with a 141 L (37 gallon) fresh water tank. With the tank full, the average couple could stay off-grid for roughly 1 week without needing to refill.
How is the body of the trailer constructed?
The walls of our trailers are built using a multi-step composite construction process. The walls themselves are a sandwich-style composite panel. The skins are made from fiberglass impregnated with thermoplastic, which are much stronger and lighter than traditional fiberglass sheets. The 1.5 inch thick insulation is XPS foam, with a minimum insulation value of R7.
The walls are all bonded together with structural sealant adhesive, and strategically riveted-together aluminum brackets. Once all adhesives have cured, we then install our custom aluminum exoskeleton that is both bonded and riveted to the exterior of the trailer with waterproof rivets.
This process creates an extremely strong and durable structure, designed for long-term off-road use.
